So having your manual save in a place that can't be reset will prevent you from having to start from scratch. If you load a save and the game decided to reset the floor, you will be stuck in the wall with no way out. Occasionally the game will act as if you haven't been on a floor before and will reset the floor. These will be covered in the Central Control section of the walkthrough.Ī quick note about saves: I recommend only manually saving at Central Control. Your base also requires managing and has many systems that can be used to your benefit. I started running into them at 80+% global infection on nightmare. Either way, you should get way more than 15 on your nightmare run. I never ran into any on easy but that might be because they require a very high global infection percentage to start spawning. Killing 10, 50, and 100 of any enemy type unlocks: As the game progresses you will encounter more types of enemies and tougher variants as well as larger groups of enemies. Initially you will only encounter normal mutants and maybe a jellyfish or a brain bug. This is a list of every enemy you will encounter on your journey on Mars. I killed myself a few times with photon grenades when dumping stuff into a storage crate, so I avoided picking them up. The effect doesn't last long enough to really be usable. Grenades - stun grenades were never that useful to me. If you really want to you can use one on cocoons to save energy for your guns.

Every 3 suit levels correspond with your engineering and research software level. So, the other 12 suits are similar to how the weapons work. There are two special suits, one is the prison outfit that you start in, but it can still be researched and the IEVA suit is required for story progression. On your right side HUD, you have weapon slots, a flashlight slot, a suit slot, power pack, oxygen canister, and thermo canister slots as well as quick use slots for items. It will stop you from sprinting or dodging until you have fixed it with a nanocasting kit.

You will slowly drain health until it is fixed with bandages.įracture - A fracture results from taking damage. Since decontamination pills cost 50 blood to craft at every tier level I recommend only using them when required and hoarding them when you find them in crates.īleed - Bleeding results from taking damage from melee. Using decontamination pills is the only way to lower this meter. At higher contaminations your health will start to drain. At low/no contamination you will heal slowly over time. Eating/drinking contaminated items or being hit by an enemy will increase your contamination level. Once contaminated at all, your contamination level will gradually grow over time. If you are contaminated red cells will start to fill that view. Sitting in a chair or sleeping will speed up time and recover your stamina faster.Ĭontamination - Your contamination level can be found in between your stamina meter and health meter on the bottom left of the HUD. Stamina - The white meter that is used by sprinting, dodging, and melee attacks. Health - The turquoise meter that determines how much damage you can take before dying. Manage these meters to stay alive and avoid debuffs. I didn’t change any other settings as they are relatively unimportant to gameplay.

Feel free to play with this number for yourself and find what works best. The smaller angle allows you to shoot with more precision. The 45 degree angle is way too large to allow for any precision leading to this happening quite often. This leads to situations where there is an enemy right in front of you but someone way in the distance gets targeted instead and you have to position yourself to try and get the enemy attacking you to be in line with where you are shooting. Unfortunately, the game was clearly not designed with controllers in mind and will often select a target that is furthest away from you but still on screen. The default is 45 which means the game will snap to any target within a 45 degree angle of where you are aiming. Before starting a new game, I recommend changing the aim assist angle to approximately 30 under input & play options.
